Gahanna Church of Christ is an independent, nondenominational, instrumental congregation. The cord that binds our members together is a commitment to the authority of the Bible as our only rule of faith and conduct of life, as well as a personal allegiance to the Lordship of Jesus Christ.
Gahanna Church of Christ …
Believes there is only one true God. Yet, in the trinity of the Godhead there are three CO-eternal and CO-equal persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit (Matthew 28:18-19, 2 Corinthians 13:14).
Believes in partaking of Holy Communion on a regular basis. We observe the Lord’s Supper weekly as an important part of our worship experience (1 Corinthians 11:23-29).
Believes that everyone will stand before the judgment seat of God and receive either eternal life in heaven or eternal death in hell (John 14:1-14, 2 Corinthians 5:10, Revelation 20:15).
Believes that the method for the support and spreading of Jesus’ “Good News” is by the giving of tithes and offerings. Our gifts are used to support benevolence, our ministries, and a number of missionaries. (Malachi 3:10, 2 Corinthians 8:1-5).
Believes that Jesus Christ is the only begotten Son of God, who died for our sins and arose from the dead. He alone is the Savior of the world (John 3:14-18).
Believes that the Bible is the Inspired Word of God; as a light unto our feet and a light unto our path (see Psalm 119:105). It is the final authority. The Bible serves as our only standard in matters of doctrine and personal conduct (2 Timothy 3:15, 166).
Believes that every person has worth as a creation of God; but that all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God, yet are justified freely by His grace. We view our members not as the only Christians, rather Christians only (Romans 3:23-24).
Believes that forgiveness of sins and the promise of eternal life are available to those who trust Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord. We welcome into our fellowship everyone committing themselves to the Lordship of Jesus Christ according to the teachings of the New Testament (1 Corinthians 4:1-4).
Believes that those accepting Christ are to repent of their sins, confess their faith in Jesus Christ, and be baptized by immersion into Him. Immersion is the means by which we receive forgiveness of sins, and receive the gift of the Holy Spirit (John 3:3-8, Acts 2:38, Romans 10:9).
Believes that the church is the body of Christ on earth, and exists to save souls and encourage the saints. We seek to realize that the mind and spirit of our Lord, Jesus lives in the hearts of our members (Ephesians 4:1-16).
Believes that Jesus Christ will return to judge the living and the dead; and reign as King of Kings and Lord of lords for eternity. Until then we seek to demonstrate that in matters of faith, there is unity; and in matters of opinion there is liberty; and in all things there is love (1 Thessalonians 4:13-18).
